The 40th anniversary of the Transformers franchise is coming to a close, but Hasbro is topping things off with a major reveal of what's to come. This includes two new entries in a movie-based toy line and the next step for the main Transformers toys.
Transformers Studio Series' Bonecrusher and Scrapper have been revealed, with these Constructicons being just four of the upcoming components of a devastating and iconic Decepticon. Likewise, the replacement for the current Transformers: Legacy line has seemingly been revealed through Transformers: Age of the Primes Megatronus the Fallen. Representing the past and future of the brand, these figures will soon be must-haves for fans and collectors.
The massive Transformers: War for Cybertron Omega Supreme toy is available again to order, but fans will need to wait a while to actually get him.
Showcased on Oct. 27, 2024 in a Hasbro Pulse video, Transformers Studio Series '86 Bonecrusher and Scrapper update their classic Generation 1 designs, namely those from The Transformers: The Movie. As in G1, Scrapper turns into a front-end loader, whereas Bonecrusher is a bulldozer. These two are the first of four other Constructicon figures, with the video also showcasing the prototype for their combined form: the mighty Devastator. Modernized with newer engineering, these figures replicate the iconic aesthetic of G1, basing the new toys on the original figures and the 1984 cartoon. Expected to be released in May 2025, the Voyager Class Scrapper can now be preordered for $34.99, whereas Bonecrusher is a $25.99 Deluxe Class figure. The Transformers Studio Series line takes character designs from the various live-action and animated Transformers movies, as well as some of the video games, and replicates them with highly accurate new toys.
Also seen is an upcoming toy from a completely different subline. Transformers: Age of the Primes is seemingly the replacement for the current Transformers: Legacy toy line, with the concept being based around the ancestors of Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots. The line's first revealed figure is Megatronus the Fallen, a character who's also known as Megatronus Prime and The Fallen. Featuring a design based on the character's first appearance in the Dreamwave Transformers comic books, Megatronus bears a head design evoking Optimus Prime and the Decepticon symbol itself. This reflects his characterization in the past decade, with the recent animated movie Transformers One making Megatronus' symbol into the basis for the Decepticon symbol. There's not yet any confirmed release date or even a preorder option available for Megatronus the Fallen, but the figure is confirmed as being a Leader Class toy. His official product listing will likely be coupled with the reveal for other new figures in the upcoming toy line.
Transformers is a media franchise produced by American toy company Hasbro and Japanese toy company Takara Tomy. It primarily follows the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, two alien robot factions at war that can transform into other forms, such as vehicles and animals.
